IS YOUR LOVED ONE AN ACTIVE SENIOR?

Everyone desires to live well and age gracefully. By staying physically and socially active, we can live life to the fullest.

Encouraging your loved one to maintain as much independence as possible is an effective way to support their health and wellness.

THE "A, B, C"s OF AGEING WELL

Through the Community Network for Seniors (CNS), Government agencies and community partners work together to bring “ABC” – Active Ageing, Befriending, and Care and Support to help seniors age gracefully.

Active Ageing

Help your loved ones stay active, healthy and socially engaged with these programmes near your neighbourhood:

Health Screening
• Functional Screening: Check eyes, check ears, check mouth! It is a basic check to ensure your loved one’s eyes, ears and mouth are in good health. This is so they can see better, hear better and keep enjoying the food they love. It is important to get checked in order to get the right treatment early if they find any conditions. Find out about available sessions here.

Chronic Disease Screening: Visit our Community Health Posts to consult health coaches for one-to-one advice on how your loved one can adopt a healthier lifestyle!
Exercises
• Sweat it out in group Exercise Sessions!

Your loved one can learn a range of different exercises, including Resistance Band Exercises, Low Impact Aerobics, Line Dance, Qigong and Taichi. With these exercises, they can benefit from strengthened joints and muscles, improved heart health and circulation. It also keeps their mind and body healthy!
Social Activities
• Seniors Health Curriculum: Your loved one can join a fun-filled workshop to learn more about successful ageing, and get tips on making healthier lifestyle choices.

Healthy Cooking Class: They can learn how to prepare healthy dishes through live demonstration by our instructors.

• Encourage your loved one to keep their minds active and make new friends through Social Activities such as Rummy-O, Karaoke and Café-Corner.

Befriending

If your loved one lives alone or feel lonely, we can match them with friendly volunteer befrienders in their neighbourhood! The befrienders will visit them regularly to lend a helping hand and listening ear.
