Caregiver Basics 101: A resource guide for new caregivers, covering areas, such as:

-          Am I a caregiver?

-          Training available for caregivers

-          Caregivers' well-bring

-          Financial and legal matters to look into

-          How to carry out home modifications?

-          List of service providers providing caregiver training, respite care and caregiver support services.

Activities of Daily Living: As a caregiver, you may find that some of your time each day will be devoted to assisting your loved one to maintain various aspects of daily living, including personal hygiene, eating, and getting around in a home or/and outdoor environment.

Body Mechanics: When caring for a frail elderly, the caregiver often needs to help the care recipient to move around. By standing and moving one’s body correctly as well as making the best use of one’s strength to prevent injury, a caregiver can safely move another person. This guide provides an understanding of body mechanics and offers step-by-step guide on Positioning, Moving and Transferring the care recipient.

A Caregiver Guide To Avoid Burnout: Providing emotional support and physical care to someone who is ill can be a satisfying and rewarding journey. It can also be challenging, especially if you need to balance a job, family and housework on top of caring for the person who is ill. This guide provides practical information and self-care tips to help caregivers maintain their well-being.

Caregiving Handbook (AWWA): This handbook developed by AWWA Centre for Caregivers, will guide you on the strategies on how to take care of oneself as a caregiver, discover ways of coping with the stresses and strains that come along with the role, gain information on various topics related to caregiving and find out the resources which are available in the areas of training, support, information and referral, as well as counselling.

Dementia Toolkit – Activity Book: The toolkit have been designed and developed for care providers who are engaged in delivering cognitive stimulation activities for persons with dementia. These care providers can be anyone. You will learn how to conduct activities for person who are living with mild cognitive impairment or may have early onset dementia. The goal is to spend quality time and create enjoyment for that person.
