INTRODUCTION TO CENTRE-BASED RESPITE CARE

Respite Care services are available in day care centres (or senior care centres). It offers day time support to care for your loved ones, whilst you take a break. As a caregiver, it is important to take periodic breaks to practice self-care for your own physical and mental well-being to sustain your caregiving journey.

Respite at senior care centre is also useful when you need time away to run errands or when your foreign domestic helper (FDW) goes on home leave. This service is provided at participating senior care centres where trained staff will care for your loved one for a few hours. Your loved one can be a senior or an adult who requires assistance in activities of daily living e.g. toileting, walking, eating or persons with mild dementia. With your loved one is being well cared for, and enjoying the interactions/ activities at a centre, you can attend to your needs with peace of mind.
